Rules & Costs

1. Weekly picks must be selected one hour before kickoff of the first game, no exceptions. If games are played on Thursdays or Saturdays (on holiday weeks), the deadline will be indicated for those days, when the picks form is sent.

2. Regular Season Payout schedule: The Regular Season entry fee is $5 per week, for 18 weeks, or $90 for the weekly winner kitty.

For example, this season with 19 participants playing, which makes $95 a week for the weekly winner kitty, and divided this way:
  • 1st Place - $50
  • 2nd Place - $30
  • 3rd Place - $15
  • If we have more than 19 players, the payout will increase accordingly.

    3. Pay outs will be made at seasons end, or rolled into a playoff pool TBD.

    4. Picks are made versus the spread, not just by who you think will win the game. If you are not familiar with the spread and how it works, do some homework so you feel comfortable, but it's not too complex. Here's how it works: If team X is favored by 5 points and they win by 5 or more, Team X "covered" the spread so they win. If you picked Team X, that will be a win for you. The spread is represented by a + or - for each team. If team Q is favored by 3 points, they will have a spread of -3 points and their opponent will have a spread of +3 points. The idea is to take the actual points scored by Team Q and apply the spread (minus 3), and if they outscored their opponent, they "covered" the spread.

    5. The spread will be taken from one of the major casino book lines, though some may vary, they are usually within a half a point of each other.

    6. In the event of a weekly tie, 1st, 2nd or 3rd place payout will be combined and split equally between the tied winners. For example, if two players tie for 1st place, the money for 1st and 2nd place are combined and split equally between both players. if two players tie for 2nd place, the money for 2nd and 3rd place are combined and split equally between both players. If two players tie for 3rd place, the money for 3rd place will be split equally between both players.

    8. All picks must be made on time. Thanksgiving game picks are due 60 minutes prior to the first kick-off. Saturday game picks are due 60 minutes prior to the first Saturday kick-off. Sunday and Monday game picks are due 60 minutes prior to the first Sunday kick-off.

Good luck to all, and if you see a discrepancy in my entries, don’t hesitate to let me know. Surprise, I’m not perfect.
